Finland, behold, thy daylight now is dawning,         the threat of night has now been driven away.         The skylark calls across the light of morning,         the blue of heaven lets it have its way,         and now the day the powers of night is scorning:         thy daylight dawns, O Finland of ours!       2. Finland, arise, and raise towards the highest         thy head now crowned with mighty memory.         Finland, arise, for to the world thou criest         that thou hast thrown off thy slavery,         beneath oppression´s yoke thou never liest.         Thy morning´s come, O Finland of ours!          조국에 대한 진지한 사랑이 찬란하게 빛나는 이 곡은 시벨리우스의 많은 작품중에서도  애국심에 기반을 둔 자연주의적인 작품이다. 조국 핀란드는 오랜 세월을 러시아의 압정하에서 시달렸다.  따라서 핀란드의 아름다운 자연을 찬양한 이 교향시야말로 어려운 환경 속에서 시름하고 있던 국민들에게 애국심을 다시 한번 생각하게 하는 크나큰 역할을 한다.   특히 이 곡 후반부의 애조띤 민요조의 합창가락은 시벨리우스 자신이 직접 쓴 것으로 그의 혼이 담긴 작품이라 할 수 있다. 이 교향시의 중간부의 선율에는 후에 베이코 코스켄니에미(Veikko Koskenniemi)가 시를 써넣어 '핀란디아 찬가'라는 합창곡으로 만들어서 오늘날 핀란드의 준 애국가처럼 애창되고 있다                           Be still my soul                            리베라소년합창단                       Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side                       Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain                       Leave to thy God to order and provide                       In every change, He faithful will remain                       Be still my soul, thy best, thy heavenly Friend                       Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end                       내 영혼아 잠잠하라 주님은 네 편이시니                       인내로써 슬픔과 고통의 십자가를 견디어라                       너의 하나님께서 명령하시고 채우시도록 주도권을 드리어라                       모든 변화 속에서도 너의 진실하신 하나님은 변치 않을 것이로다                       내 영혼아 잠잠하라 너의 최고의, 하늘에 계신 친구께서                       가시밭 길을 통해 너를 기쁨의 목적지로 인도하실 것이로다                       Be still my soul, thy God will undertake                       To guide the future, as He has the past                       Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake                       All now mysterious shall be bright at last                       Be still my soul, the waves and winds shall know                       His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below                       내 영혼아 잠잠하라 너의 하나님이 과거에도 그랬듯이                       미래도 인도해 주실 것이로다                       아무것도 너의 소망과 너의 확신을 흔들지 못할지니                       현재의 비밀스러운 것들이 마지막엔 명백해질 것이로다                       내 영혼아 잠잠하라 파도와 바람이 이 땅에 계실 적에                       자신들을 통치하신 그 분의 음성을 알아들을 것이로다                         Be still my soul, the hour is hastening on                       When we shall be forever with the Lord                       When disappointment, grief and fear are gone                       Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored                       Be still my soul, when change and tears are past                       All safe and blessed we shall meet at last                         내 영혼아 잠잠하라 우리가 주님과 영원히                       함께 할 시간이 서둘러 오리니                       그 때엔 낙담과 고통과 두려움이 물러가고                       슬픔은 잊혀지며 사랑의 순전한 기쁨이 회복될 것이로다                       내 영혼아 잠잠하라 변화와 눈물이 지나간 후                       안전함과 축복 속에서 우리는 마지막 날 만날 것이로다                                         뻣찌
